Thrive Theme Builder

The Thrive Theme Builder is a flexible, easy to use framework for building a WordPress site.
Not to be confused with Thrive Architect, which is a plugin and content editor, this theme builder was released in early 2020 and does so much more. With it, you will be able to visually create and modify any aspect of your pages, including headers, footers, blog post templates, sidebars, page layouts, search pages, category pages, 404s, etc. This means that you no longer have to be stuck with whatever page elements came with the theme. With this tool, you will be able to drag-and-drop different elements to make your page look exactly how you want it to. Fun fact, the website you're on right now was made with Thrive Theme Builder and though I'm biased, I think it looks pretty darn good.

Thrive Architect is a next-generation WordPress page builder that is ideal for marketers and business owners whose main focus is on marketing.
This plugin is really the foundation of the entire suite of tools from Thrive Themes. It's the primary editor that you will be using to build or edit your landing pages, lead generation forms, etc.
This tool provides a ton of flexibility and power compared to the default editor in WordPress. It will help you transform your pages and blog posts into unique, responsive, eye-catching, and high converting pages that your audience will love.
Thrive Architect provides you with total visual control over how your website looks and feels without you having to learn any code. Everything on the platform is drag-and-drop. To change any particular aspect of the page, all you have to do is click on it and the tool has built in options to change things.
As with any software, there's a bit of a learning curve when using Thrive Architect, but it'll certainly be worth it to be able to create exceptional, professional-looking websites without having to deal with CSS or PHP code.

Thrive Leads
Thrive Leads is a tool that you can use to build your email lists. Everything that you could need to attract and inspire readers to sign up for your email list is included in this package. You can display the forms using the various options. For instance, you can choose a pop-up opt-in form or include it in your sidebar widget and only have these trigger on mobile, or on desktop. There are a ton of different display options for this tool.  Additionally, Thrive Leads allows you to measure performance and conduct split tests. You get reports that provide you with deep insights on how your email marketing strategy is working so you know how to improve it.
This is a HUGE deal because you can test different test or visuals to see what will convert better and provide you with more email subscribers. All of this happens within your WordPress dashboard, which makes it easier to manage. It gives you the power to insert forms anywhere you like and makes lead magnet delivery simple and easy.

Online quizzes are very popular viral marketing tactics on social media, or interactive elements on your own website. They make great list building tools, as well. However, the problem with creating quizzes is that they often require either expensive tools or custom programming. Thrive Quiz Builder has changed all that. This tool has everything you need to build exciting quizzes for your audience. You can give different readers different calls to action, and, based on their answers, you're able to offer them specific opt-ins that will allow you to segment your list. Using this tool, you can create some pretty awesome quizzes to boost your list building efforts or to get loads of traffic to your blog. You can also use quizzes as surveys to gather more information about your audience. Thrive Quiz Builder is built right into your WordPress dashboard. This makes everything so easy because there is no need for coding anything personally and it saves you a ton of time

If you want to start offering online courses, then Thrive Apprentice will help make your job easy. This plugin solves the problem of how to organize and display digital courses on your WordPress website. It helps you create stylish lesson pages and lets you easily organize them into modules and chapters. You also get full progress tracking features that allow you to keep track of everything from right within your WordPress dashboard to understand how your students are progressing.  Thrive Apprentice works with all other themes, and it integrates easily with all major membership website plugins. It also has deep integration with SendOwl to make sending emails in conjunction with the course even easier.
Whether you want to create a free online course for building your list, or if you want to market a paid course to your audience, this tool is a solid option for you.

Thrive Comments
Many bloggers debate whether or not they should have comments on their blog, and there are cases to be made for both sides.
Personally, I think it's a must if you want to engage your fans.
Having said that, if you decide to have comments on your blog, Thrive Comments is a great way to make sure that it counts toward your marketing efforts. Having comments on your WordPress site can help encourage user engagement. By adding fresh, relevant content on your website pages, you also help to boost your SEO efforts.
The Thrive Comments plugin works in impressive ways to not only help you make your comments area beautiful and engaging but also works as a sort of "user reviews" or "testimonials section".  With this tool, you are essentially replacing the default comments system and unlocking a lot more capability, including upvoting, and so on. This will help you turn your comments into a big part of your overall conversion strategy. For example, when blog readers post a comment, you can give them a call to action to share the blog post or opt-in to your email list. These are just a few of the ways you can use Thrive comments to transform your blog comments into a powerful marketing tool. If you want to see this tool in action, scroll to the bottom of this post and leave a comment. You'll see how I have implemented it myself.

Thrive Optimize
Thrive Optimize is designed to let you A/B test the pages on your website so you can see what works better.
A/B testing allows you to send your website traffic to two different page versions - the original page, and a second one where one element, such as the call to action text or page headline, has been changed. You can track conversions so you can see which page does better and make the winning page your default version. You then repeat the test by changing another element. This constant process of improvement is vital to creating landing pages on your site that convert like crazy. On one of my websites where I use Thrive Optimize and have run many tests, I've increased my conversion opt-in to 7%, when it was previously 2%.  The Thrive Optimize plugin is lightweight and conversion-oriented, making it perfect for business owners and marketers who are serious about boosting conversions on their websites. It tacks right onto Thrive Architect, which enables you to run full split testing and track conversions from right within your WordPress website. In addition to cutting out the need for third-party testing tools, Thrive Optimize also provides you with detailed reporting on the best-performing versions of your website pages.

Thrive Ultimatum
Thrive Ultimatum is a smart, customizable, and simple-to-use plugin that allows you to use scarcity to sell your digital products.
I can tell you from personal experience that scarcity works, I use it in my own business. For some reason, people don't take action a lot of the time until they know they're about to miss out on something.
This tool lets you run fixed date campaigns for limited time offers, automatically recurring campaigns so that your scarcity campaigns happen repeatedly, and they also offer the ultimate evergreen system that gives all users their own deadline.
Putting together all of this is easy with this plugin and you get to manage everything in one place.

Thrive Ovation is a testimonial management plugin that helps you gather social proof, such as customer testimonials which play a great role in helping to persuade your prospects. The system is automated to collect client testimonials and then display them in an attractive way on your website pages to help you get better conversions. Social proof is an important component of your marketing, yet many website owners don't ask for testimonials on their sites. Also, if they do get a testimonial, they don't store or use it in the most effective way. If that's you, then Thrive Ovation could be the ideal tool for you. With this plugin, you will be able to automate the collection of testimonials on your website. You'll also have an easy way to manage and organize everything from your WordPress dashboard.
You can display the testimonials anywhere on your site. All you have to do is drag and drop them into any page, and you even have the option of showing them dynamically.

Thrive Headline Optimizer
The headline optimizer plugin allows you to A/B split test your headlines to boost the click-through rate for your own website pages. This also helps to boost other metrics, including scroll depth and time spent on page.
The headline optimizer offers in-depth headline testing reports as well as automatic winner settings. It is highly recommended if your website gets lots of direct visitors, such as news websites, and it will be a really useful tool that lets you know what headlines to use to capture your readers' attention.

Thrive Clever Widgets
This plugin allows you to add some conditions so you can display widgets contextually on your blog. With this tool, you will be able to display different widgets for different posts. You can vary them by categories, tags, etc.
Since there are many different free alternatives for this plugin that you will find in the WordPress repository, it may not be of value for you to purchase it separately. However, it comes as part of the package when you purchase the Thrive Themes Membership, so it's worth making use of it to optimize your widget placement.

Thrive Themes price themselves on ease of use and they deliver. However, the power and sheer volume of features and options can overwhelm. So while using the products is very straightforward, it is easy to become lost in the minutiae until you learn your way around.
There is also a steep learning curve in what to use and where but that's outside the scope of Thrive Themes. To get the most out of the products you will need to know how and where to place popups, best practices for using them, know how to use email lists with email marketing apps and the fundamentals of page design. You will not need to know anything about coding, CSS, HTML or how a CMS works.
Once installed, you use the page builder from within a new page in WordPress. As long as your plugins are also installed, they are available as page elements within the builder. All you need to do is drag and drop each page element onto the page, customise it, add content, modify the design to suit and you'll see it live on screen.
Elements are added in order they would be seen on the page but you can move them around as you see fit. As you add an element, the customisation menu for that element is opened automatically and you can flow from one to the other with ease. Once complete you can save your page as a template and just load it to continue populating your website.

Support
You can get support from Thrive by submitting a support ticket for your queries from right inside your thrive dashboard.
There's no chat option, and while the support team is good at what they do, they typically respond within 24 to 48 hours which is slow and can be frustrating if you're in the middle of a project. Having said that, they are highly knowledgeable and friendly and will work with you to resolve any issue you might experience. Thrive also has a large forum where you can submit your queries. However, I feel it's difficult to search and find issues that have already been resolved. All in all, the support is the worst part of the product and needs some work. I personally don't contact the support often as there is a lot of good info out there, but you'll likely need to once in a while.

Pros:
  • Conversion Focus: There are very few vendors on the market who have such a vast portfolio of tools focused on marketing and lead generation.
  • Hundreds of Page Templates: You can choose from almost 300 templates to help you start creating pages quickly.
  • Free Training: They've created Thrive University, which is full of courses where you can learn everything you need to know about how to use each of the tools.
  • Easy to Use: Thrive Themes has a very intuitive user interface. The drag and drop editor makes it easy to create pages - even for newbies.
  • Great 3rd-Party Integrations: You can easily integrate with tons of other marketing tools and services, such as plugins, platforms, etc.
  • Fully Responsive: The Thrive Themes page builder and templates are all 100% responsive.
  • Great Marketing Functions: This suite of tools offers amazing capabilities for creating affiliate or digital marketing sites.
  • Perfect for WordPress: The templates and plugins work perfectly for WordPress sites and are optimized for the WordPress platform.
Cons:
  • Large Number of Products: The sheer number of tools offered by Thrive can prove overwhelming for beginners.
  • Learning Curve: Just like any new platform out there, Thrive Themes suite of products all have their own learning curve. I do think the platforms are intuitive, but it takes time and patience to master them.
  • Only Works With WordPress: There's no version of Thrive Themes that works with Drupal, Joomla, or any other website platform.
  • Support Response Time: It's not that the support for Thrive Themes is bad, it's actually quite good. But sometimes it takes hours to get a response which is frustrating when you're in the middle of doing something.
Recommended if:
If you're looking for a suite of tools to help you create well-optimized websites, then you're part of the Thrive Themes target audience. Although the individual themes aren't that impressive on their own, when you consider all the themes, plugins, and educational content on offer to Thrive members, the whole of the Thrive Themes portfolio is greater than the sum of its parts.

Not recommended if:
You have small business because you could probably get similar results with the lower-priced products from Elegant Themes - specifically, their Divi theme and its powerful drag-and-drop page builder, split testing tool, and page template library, combined with their Bloom plugin and its optin forms.

The Verdict
Thrive Themes is a coherent package of all the tools you need to build a great looking website and convert your users. It may be aimed squarely at marketers but most of the tools offer value to all kinds of websites whether you're selling or not.

Thrive Themes is a comprehensive package that offers you all the tools you will ever need to build a great looking, high converting website. While it's aimed squarely at marketers, you will find that most of the tools offer great value to every kind of website, whether it's built for selling or not. And now that we've come to the end of this Thrive Themes review, I hope by now you understand everything you need to know to help you decide whether or not the Thrive Themes products are for you. I also hope you get why the membership is a smart buy, even if you have limited funds to invest. None of the other competing page builders offer greater value for money.
If you still feel the membership fee is too much, I would recommend getting Thrive Architect and Thrive Leads at the bare minimum. But, by then, you won't be very far from the cost of membership so it's still my number one recommended way to go.
